Project Lima

Exploring shared-airspace possibilities for all crewed and uncrewed traffic
  • Volcan de Fuego

Project Lima is a part of Solent Transport’s ‘Future Transport Zones’ drone project which aims to deliver a working concept of a permanent airspace where both Crewed and Uncrewed traffic can operate safely.

Fundamentally, the project’s main objective is to create a safe operating procedure which eliminates the needs of Temporary Danger Areas (TDAs) which blocks out airspace to all users except for the applicants of the TDA. With the use of Electronic Conspicuity (EC) devices installed on both types of platforms, the ability to detect and avoid will become possible ensuring the safety of all operators.

A ground based sensor network, will further increase safety by ensuring a real time situational awareness for the ground operator. In addition to these layers of safety, a pre-flight booking system is being trialled to deconflict flight paths which contain potential airspace incursions.
